Expert Pool Construction and Community Leadership with Osterhus Outdoors

There’s a special kind of magic in a backyard transformation, and for Cyndi Osterhus, the art of building pools isn’t all that different from her 50-year career in education. As a former administrator and teacher who has taught everyone from kindergarteners to graduate students in the fields of mathematics, research and space science, Cyndi now uses those same skills to help families define a vision for their outdoor spaces.

Cyndi joined Osterhus Outdoors in 2013 following her retirement as a college professor, eager to assist her husband, Ken, in a rapidly growing market. Today, she manages a support team overseeing logistics, sales and customer service for the family and veteran-owned business, which originally began in 2003. Their philosophy is simple: a focus on quality construction provided by a strong team of employees to ensure their customers have “No regrets!”

Osterhus Outdoors is a full-service fiberglass pool construction company that handles everything from the initial build to hardscapes and retaining walls. Their retail offerings include hot tubs, poly furniture, Wilmington grills, water chemistry analysis and maintenance chemicals. For Cyndi, the biggest inspiration is assisting customers in creating a space for family fun and memories. She believes a fiberglass pool can be life-changing, serving as a “forever” pool and a magnet for gathering family and friends.

Cyndi’s background in education is as distinguished as the pools their company builds. She was selected as a Teacher in Space Finalist in 1985 for the Challenger mission and was named the North Carolina Teacher of the Year in 1987. Outside of the business, she remains incredibly active in the Salisbury community. She is involved with the Rowan County Chamber and the Civitan Club of Salisbury, where she has served as president and as the Region Three chair of Junior Civitans.

The Osterhus family lives in Salisbury and stays busy with their three sons, two daughters, 11 grandchildren and a German Shepherd appropriately named Rebel. Cyndi and her husband take pride in their company and their dedication to excellence remains the same whether it’s helping a neighbor design their dream backyard or choose a hot tub.
